Chassis number BS-523 was one of 25 that were imported and sold by Ernie McAfee Motors of Los Angeles. It was purchased from there by a young Steve McQueen in 1956. He owned it for about a year or so before selling it again. McQueen was also said to have affectionately referred to his Siata as his "little Ferrari" and rumor has it that he even replaced the Siata badge with a Ferrari one...

During 1991, it went through a thorough refurbishment and was repainted in red.
